Weekly Review - I am the one and only!

This week we had loads of activities that linked in with leadership and participation.

The song above, speaks about helping to feel proud and to, "walk with dignity and pride".

We had a Leadership Assembly where our ELC, P3 and P7 received their caps as a recognition of their celebration of their year where they have undertaken leadership activities to help them take ownership of themselves towards a desired goal.

Here's a snapshot of their assembly and work.

Our ELC recipients

P3 performed a dance before showing their scrapbook of leadership activities.

P7 threw their hats in the air in celebration.

P3 Sharing their scrap books with peers and parents.

Here is an example of a P7 project.

Aria with her card project.

Evaluating their experiences from EMILY and KAYLA.

We truly believe we are proud of our achievements as "The One And Only" Smithton ELC & Primary.

P4-P7 SPORTS

I believe this is the first competitive sports that we have had since pre-covid for P4-P7. It was all weathers including hail and cold wind : but it was fun!

Here's one or two moments.

Baillie Cup Leaders 🏆

What a day was had on Tuesday . We all came back with loads of medals, very happy children and a Bronze Medal for our whole team.

Many thanks to our adults and parents who supported on the day. Our pictures have been posted on a previous blog post.

OTHER NEWS

😁 This week coming sees our School Show P4-P7 production on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Many thanks to Mrs Cornish for co-ordinating ticket allocation.

😁 Staff have completed a class formation based on a 14 class model. There is a possibility of us being given a 15th class. We await Highland Council Work Force Planning to undertake their staffing resource audit and we will find out more and which staff we have for Session 2024-25. As ever this is a process that takes time. As soon as this process takes place we can then formulate a finalized class list with teacher/s attached and then inform all parents. As ever our Family Team can support transition for those who require this.

😁You should have received your child's progress report over the session yesterday. At the same time, the school supplies its data to Highland Council and Ed. Scot. I'm proud to say that we continue to aspire to be leaders of learning and our statistics continue to improve year upon year for Literacy and Numeracy.

😁Our new Head Teacher, Mr MacIver is to visit the school on the last week of term and meet staff and pupils for the first time. We are excited to welcome him into our ethos of positive relationships, supportive leadership opportunities and aspiring learners. We hope that some of our Pupil Ambassadors will interview him to find out more about him and then publish this so we can all share their findings.

😁 Assemblies have been professionally led by our P7 Ambassadors this session. Applications from present P6s are open from Monday. We look forward to welcoming our new Ambassadors that will continue to help us all feel, "The One And Only"
